Four Ways to Improve Your Mental Health
Mental health has been in the news a lot this past week because of the suicides of well known fashion designer Kate Spade and television personality Anthony Bourdain.
Mental Health is so important and yet is not talked about nearly enough.
I have yet to meet one person who has not had a struggle with “the voices” at some point in their life. Furthermore, many people have found themselves in a dark place at least once. I know I certainly have.
I often tell my private coaching clients that you have to dig through the dirt first before you can mine the gold underneath – meaning that if we want to be able to fully enjoy all the great stuff in life, we have to deal first with the inner turmoil that inhibits our enjoyment.
I do not know the circumstances surrounding Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain’s decisions to end their lives, nor do I want to speculate. What I will make an outside observation on is that to an outsider looking in these two people seemed to have what so many people believe will make life great: money, fame, cool jobs, well liked/love by millions, etc…
Enjoyment of life can be enhanced by those things, but it is not created by them. Enjoyment, happiness, fulfillment, etc… it is all created from within. This is the “gold” of life I spoke about earlier.
The thoughts we think and the feelings we feel are everything. These are what drive our experiences in life. To live a fulfilling life we must cultivate a healthy mind and a healthy heart. There are things we can do everyday to do this.
As with your physical health, your mental health will fade too if you do not do things every day to work on and improve it.
To help you out with this, I recorded a five minute video sharing four ways that you can improve your mental health right away.
If you have questions about anything covered in this video, please do not hesitate to post a comment below and reach out – I will respond.
